GENERAL INFORMATION AND REGULATIONS

All exhibitors will be bound by these rules of Saintfield Show together with rules specific to each individual class and entries are accepted only on that basis.

NO HORSES OR PONIES ARE TO BE LED OR RIDDEN IN THE MAIN SHOW AREA. STRICTLY NO LIVESTOCK, HORSES OR PONIES TO BE LED BY CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 8.

Regardless of age all livestock, horses and ponies are at all times to be under the control of an individual who has sufficient experience and abilities.

FAILURE TO OBSERVE THESE REGULATIONS MAY LEAD TO DISQUALIFICATION.

 

JUMPING AND RIDING EVENTS

Jumping events are under the rules and regulations of the Show Jumping Association of Ireland (NR) Riding events are under the rules and regulations of the relevant Societies.

 

SHOWING CLASSES

Saintfield Show Limited is affiliated to the Irish Shows Association and therefore there will be a levy of 5% on prize money in all showing classes.

ENTRIES

Exhibitors are requested to ensure that the proper entry form is used. Strictly no telephone entries accepted. Entries will not be accepted unless accompanied by the required fees in Sterling. Entries close on Saturday 01st June 2024. Strictly no late entries accepted.

 

ENTRY CANCELLATIONS

If an owner is required by unforeseen circumstances to cancel any entry, 75% of the amount will be refunded, providing that the withdrawal has been made 48 hours before the date of the Show by telephone, email or letter to the Show Secretary.

 

EXHIBITS ENTERED IN MORE THAN ONE CLASS

Exhibitors are requested to indicate clearly where the same animal is entered in more than one class.

 

ADMISSION OF CARS TO THE SHOWGROUNDS

A limited number of cars will be admitted to the Showground’s. All occupants and pedestrians will be charged as follows:

Adult - £10

Children under 14 – FREE

 

 

RESERVATIONS FOR TRADE AND CRAFT STANDS

Applications for Trade Stands should be made to the Show Secretary.

 

NUMBER OF PRIZES THAT WILL BE AWARDED, BASED ON THE NUMBER OF EXHIBITS

6 or over:  1st, 2nd and 3rd.    3-5 entries:  1st and 2nd     2 entries: 1st   1 entry: Entry fee refunded

WHERE INSUFFICIENT ENTRIES ARE OBTAINED APPROPRIATE CLASSES WILL BE AMALGAMATED

 

PARADE OF PRIZEWINNERS

The Parade of Cattle will commence at 1.30 p.m. approximately. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be required to parade, and failure to do so may result in forfeiture of prize money

 

REFRESHMENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE SHOW GROUNDS

 

SAINTFIELD SHOW 2024 SAFETY POLICY

 

  1. The Safety Officer for the Show is Mr B Perceval-Price who may be contacted at the Secretary’s Office. 

 

  1. The Safety Officer, Heads of Section and Stewards will monitor compliance with safety procedures by exhibitors* and the general public during the Show.

 

  1. All persons attending the Show are asked to comply with any directions in relation to safety given to them by a Safety Officer, Head of Section or Steward.

 

  1. The Society reserves the right to disqualify any exhibitor who fails to comply with a directive in relation to safety given to them by a Safety Officer, Head of Section or Steward.

 

CONTROL OF ANIMALS

 

  1. Any animal brought to the Show must be trained for exhibiting and the Head of Section will turn away any animal not so trained.

 

  1. Extreme care must be exercised by the exhibitors of Bulls (being 10 months old or over). Suitable equipment must be used when a bull is being handled or led.

 

  1. No horse shall be ridden among the general public at any time whatsoever.

 

 

  1. Horses must only be exercised in the exercise area provided.

 

  1. Dogs shall be on leads within the Showgrounds.

 

  1. A secure pen is provided in the Showground where fractious or escaped animals may be restrained. The Chief Steward must be notified immediately if any animal is restrained in the pen.

 

  1. Exhibitors are responsible for any damage however caused by their animals and must takeout

their own insurance which must include Public Liability.

 

MOVEMENT OF ANIMALS

 

12.    Heads of Section will direct the movement, within the Showground, of animals in their Section, and exhibitors shall comply with such directions.

 

IMPORTANT! All Cattle, Sheep and Goats must be kept in the areas immediately adjacent to the area in which they are competing and out of the way of the public. No Cattle, Sheep, Pigs or Goats are to be led amongst the public.   No Cattle, Sheep, Pigs or Goats to be led by children under the age of 8.  IT IS A CONDITION OF ENTRY TO THE SAINTFIELD SHOW THAT THE OWNERS AND KEEPERS OF ALL CATTLE, SHEEP PIGS & GOATS HAVE A POLICY OF INSURANCE IN EFFECT TO COVER PUBLIC LIABILITY RISKS.

 

CLEARANCE OF SHOWGROUND

 

13.   Should it become necessary to clear the Showground or any part of the Showground, exhibitors and members of the general public will receive instructions over the Public Address system and from the Stewards.

 

14.  Saintfield Show trusts that all exhibitors and the general public will assist them in the maintenance of a high standard of safety during the Show.
